Introducing the Fellowship of the OneBalance: A New Era of Unity in Web3
In the rapidly evolving landscape of Web3, fragmentation has become a persistent challenge, hindering the user experience and stalling the potential for mass adoption. As blockchain networks proliferate, each with its unique protocols and ecosystems, users and developers alike are burdened with the complexities of navigating a fractured environment. The Fellowship of the OneBalance is a movement aimed at transforming this fragmented world into a seamless, interconnected experience.
A United Mission: The Credible Chain Abstraction Stack
At the heart of the Fellowship of the OneBalance lies a singular mission: to bring Credible Accounts to Web3, abstracting away the sprawling fragmentation that has plagued the industry.
We call upon teams across the blockchain space to join us in unity, to create alignment against the growing tide of fragmentation, and to embrace a new, unifying vision for the future.
Historically, blockspace has been perceived as scarce due to the bundling of credible commitment machines with global consensus. This scarcity has led to an approach marred by UX challenges, poor scalability, and the rise of tribalism among different blockchain communities.
Embracing the Fat Account Thesis: A Vision for Unity
It is time to move beyond the tribalism of chain centrism and adopt the Fat Account Thesis. Members of the Fellowship of the OneBalance share a common belief: an industry-wide shift towards the use of Credible Accounts is crucial. This shift will not only consolidate the fragmented user experience but also enhance scalability and, most importantly, achieve greater decentralization.
The Fellowship embodies a new era of collaboration and innovation, where the focus is not on competing but on creating a unified ecosystem that benefits everyone.
The Power of Credible Accounts
So, what are Credible Accounts? They are an extension of existing account formats—whether external accounts, smart accounts, or stateful accounts—that enable these accounts to make credible commitments without relying on global consensus. These commitments manifest as "resource locks," which define conditional state transition requests issued by Credible Accounts. These state locks are the key artefacts communicated throughout the chain abstraction supply chain.
Resource locks are a mitigation strategy for the orderflow auction trilemma presented in the Cake framework. They empower solvers to manage their execution risk more effectively, ensuring a more reliable and efficient system. Importantly, external accounts, Smart Accounts using 4337-like architectures, and emerging Stateful Account proposals like 3074 and 7702 can all be extended into Credible Accounts.
Join the Fellowship of the OneBalance
As we embark on this journey, we invite all blockchain teams, developers, and enthusiasts to join us. The Fellowship of the OneBalance is more than just a technical initiative—it is a movement towards a more unified, user-centric Web3.
"You will unite or you will fall. You cannot stand against the might of Sauron alone. Few can foresee whether their road will lead them, till they come to its end."
Together, let’s build a Web3 that is seamless, scalable, and truly decentralized. The Fellowship of the OneBalance is here, and the future is within our reach.
